Morning light and breath

Getting outside within an hour of waking, ideally with a few slow breaths, is one of the cheapest levers on how your day feels.

How to do it

  1. 1Within an hour of waking, get outdoors for five to fifteen minutes.
  2. 2No sunglasses if it is comfortable; do not look at the sun.
  3. 3Walk slowly and take a few long exhales while you go.

What the evidence says

Daylight exposure timing is well studied in relation to sleep-wake rhythm. It supports the pattern of your day rather than treating anything.

Be careful if

  • Still wear SPF on exposed skin if UV levels are meaningful where you are.
