Colloidal oat soak
A lukewarm bath with finely milled oats, long used to calm itchy, tight or reactive body skin.

About 15 minutes
As needed during dry or itchy spells
How to do it
- 1Add finely ground colloidal oats to a lukewarm — not hot — bath.
- 2Soak ten to fifteen minutes.
- 3Pat dry and moisturise within three minutes, while skin is still damp.
What the evidence says
Colloidal oatmeal is one of the few home remedies with genuine dermatological support for itch and barrier comfort.
Be careful if
- •Avoid if you react to oats.
- •Weeping, spreading or infected skin needs medical attention, not a bath.
